PairScanner

The tool

Pairs trading software for your own research.

Screen relationships, examine their history and follow the spread. PairScanner brings the calculations into one browser workspace.

From a shortlist to a pair you understand

Start with the scan table to compare pairs by their statistical relationship and current divergence. Open a pair to examine normalized paths, spread, Z-score and historical reversion. Add promising relationships to your watchlist and set a Z-score email alert.

The work stays in your browser. You do not need to install a desktop application or write Python to read the results. You remain responsible for choosing a model, deciding whether to trade and placing orders with your broker.

What the scanner gives you

Screening. US-listed stocks and ETFs, with separate forex and cryptocurrency groups and a fixed cross-asset selection. Coverage depends on available history and liquidity filters; it is not a list of every instrument worldwide.

Statistical evidence. Return correlation, Engle–Granger cointegration, multiple-testing adjustment, hedge coefficient, half-life and out-of-sample checks. Inspect several measures together instead of interpreting one green result as certainty.

Follow-up. Watchlists and email alerts on a chosen Z-score threshold. Alerts are sent once per arming. For stocks, SEC filings and news activity provide context when available.

Know which time you are looking at

The full scan is recalculated after the US market close. During a session, supported pairs also show an intraday Z-score refreshed approximately every 30 seconds from quotes delayed by about 15 minutes. A refresh interval is not a guarantee of real-time market data.

Pairs across different exchanges use closing-data Z-scores. Check the timestamp, market and available history on each pair before comparing values.

General overview: features vary by software and plan. PairScanner is an analysis tool; orders stay with your broker.

Research, execution and backtesting

PairScanner provides analytics, watchlists and alerts. It does not connect to your broker to execute orders. Its historical reversion statistics and out-of-sample checks are not a configurable portfolio backtester reporting net performance after trading costs.

If you need automated order execution, broker position reconciliation or a migration of PTL portfolios, assess those requirements separately. Read the Pair Trading Lab comparison.
