Looking for a Pair Trading Lab alternative?

If you used Pair Trading Lab to discover and investigate pairs, explore how that research workflow works in PairScanner.

What Pair Trading Lab announced

Pair Trading Lab announced that its website service would close on October 1, 2026. Its homepage also points to a new Quantverse product. This comparison was checked on September 20, 2026. Read the original announcement.

PTL Trader 2.0.0 continues independently of the website. The official release notes describe JSON portfolio exports and explain that imported portfolios do not restore existing position state or past trade history. Follow that documentation for the execution-side transition.

When PairScanner is a useful alternative

Consider PairScanner if your main task is discovering relationships, comparing statistical evidence and monitoring a spread. You can inspect pair charts, review the distinction between correlation and cointegration, save a watchlist and arm Z-score alerts.

If your workflow depends on automated execution or detailed portfolio performance simulations, PairScanner alone does not cover that whole workflow. Review the software capabilities and limits before moving your research.

Rebuild your research watchlist

Keep your own list of tickers, model settings and reasons for following each relationship. Look up supported pairs in PairScanner and compare their available histories, orientation and timestamps before interpreting a different Z-score.

Do not expect two platforms to produce identical numbers. Log-price versus price models, rolling windows, corporate-action adjustments and hedge estimates all affect the spread. Recreate alerts deliberately; importing old alert thresholds into a different model would change their meaning.

PairScanner does not import PTL positions, histories or portfolio JSON files. Its watchlist is an analysis list, not a synchronized record of your broker positions.

Evaluate an example first

The public studies let you judge the depth of the analysis without opening an account. Compare a failed relationship test with a passed one, then decide whether this is the research workflow you want.
